FROM THE ARCHIVES: 2020 REVIEW
A review of art gallery exhibitions from 2020. This is a series of selected artworks from Spring 2020 The Garden, Annual Black Box Exhibition, Annual Rising Juried Exhibition, Fall Faculty Exhibition, Alumni Exhibition, and the Fall 2020 Graduating Senior Series.
Although the University Art Gallery and the student galleries remain temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are taking measures to continue to virtually highlight artworks that were on view in our gallery prior to our closure and our virtual exhibitions from this past year. We want to continue to expose our current shows with artwork highlights, virtual experiences, and videos to honor these wonderful artists that have contributed their work to these shows.
Virtual exhibition experiences are forthcoming, and video tours will be available in the future on our YouTube channel.
On behalf of the University Art Gallery, we hope you enjoy this review.

Faculty Exhibition
This is a selection of artworks from the 2020 Fall Faculty Exhibition
The works in this exhibition all in one way or another address the pandemic that is shaping and reshaping all aspects of our lives - our habits, our circumstances, our bodies, our networks. And yet, we persist through this difficult year, finding comfort in those close to us, drawing upon our own inner strengths, and reaching out to connect virtually. Through the artworks in this exhibition we see how art is a tool for coping with difficulty and change, whether it demands that we look more closely at our reality or provides us an opportunity to temporarily escape from it.
2020 Annual Alumni Exhibition
The 2020 Alumni Exhibition focused on ‘remembrances’. Many have lost so much in 2020 that it is crucial to share and express our losses, reflections, or memories through art.
Selected artworks embraced the idea of memorials, vigils, alters, Dia de Los Muertos, memory and other sites, objects or concepts that deal with a reflection on the passing of time, life, and death.
