University Art Gallery presents:

2021 Art Faculty Exhibition

2021 Art Faculty Exhibition is the first physical exhibition in the University Art Gallery since January of 2020. This exhibition features current artwork by the CSUEB art faculty members Suzy Wear(Illustration), Claire Rabkin(Fine Arts Practice, 3D Art & Design), John Poole(Fine Arts Practice, 3D Art & Design), Sharon Wickham(Photography), Sian Geraghty(3D Modeling, Animation), Robert Slote(Fine Arts Practice, 3D Art & Design), Kirk LeClaire(Fine Arts Practice), Jennifer Brazelton(Fine Arts Practice, 3D Art & Design), and Beth Krebs(Foundation Practice).

Come visit the gallery and see the various different sculptures, paintings, photographs, and mixed media artwork on display until October 14.

Artist Bio:

Suzy painted from a young age, there were artists in the family. She went on to University of Colorado where she studied painting, drawing and photography. She received a BFA in Drawing from CCA(C). Starting with databases for photography, she taught herself computer skills and went on to get Masters in Multimedia from CSUH. She ran a freelance design/ web business, illustrating her projects. She helped form the Graphic Design program, started and currently manages the Illustration program at CSUEB. She loves watercolor, drawing, digital painting, wildlife and her family.

Artist Bio:

Bob Slote began painting while a student at the University of Oregon. He transferred to the San Francisco Art Institute and graduated with Honors. While at SFAI he was awarded an Honors studio and won several awards and scholarships upon receiving his BFA in Painting. After living in Paris, France for a year he attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received an MFA.

Artist Bio:

Claire Rabkin is an interdisciplinary artist and educator. She uses textiles, sculptural processes, and media to create installations about the intimacy of collectivity, gesture, and human relationship. Personal narratives layer into larger frameworks of symbolism and mythos to create accessible interdisciplinary pieces about social and political systems. She holds an MFA from Mills College, and teaches 3D and social movement art at California State University, East Bay.

Artist Bio:

Sian is a 3D artist who teaches 3D modeling & animation. She gravitates towards creating strong female characters as well as toy designs. She uses ZBrush, Maya, and Substance Painter in her art.

Artist Bio:

Fine Arts Practice, 3D Art & Design

Artist Jennifer Brazelton lives in San Francisco and has her studio at Dome Studios in Oakland, CA. She when not working in the studio she curates and teaches art courses at California State University East Bay, Skyline College, and Ohlone College. You can view her work at Applied Contemporary Gallery, Abrams Claghorn Gallery, and the Epperson Gallery. Her work is represented in Glaze: The Ultimate Ceramic Artist's Guide to Glaze and Color by Brian Taylor and Kate Doody, in the Lark Books publication “500 Raku Pieces”, in Politics of Perception; Post-Foucauldian Ceramics by Anthony Merino, and in 71 Women Artists by Kurt Fishback.

Down-Home Music, the story of Arhoolie Records, A 55 Film by Chris Strachwitz and Kirk LeClaire. Chris walks and talks through an exhibition of the records, photographs, and films he recorded and collected along the way. This is that journey. The exhibition is now on display at Down-Home Music in El Cerrito California.
